Job summary

APX in Greencastle, IN is seeking a Materials Prep Technician to prepare aluminum and mild steel parts for powder coating. You will grind, sand, and clean surfaces to ensure adhesion and a professional finish.

You will collaborate with fabrication, paint, and quality teams, maintain 5S standards in a clean work area, and strictly follow safety procedures while handling parts and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare aluminum and mild steel parts using grinders and sanders to ensure coating adhesion.
• Inspect for surface imperfections and burrs, correcting as needed.
• Clean parts with air, wash bays, cloths, and solvents.
• Coordinate with fabrication, paint, and QA teams to meet prep standards.
• Maintain and clean grinding equipment regularly.
• Follow safety procedures and wear PPE.
• Assist with material handling and staging for painting.
• Maintain organized work area following 5S standards.
