Job summary

APX is seeking a Material Prep Technician to prepare aluminum and steel parts for powder coating. You will grind, sand, and clean surfaces to ensure optimal coating adhesion and a professional finish. This role supports quality and appearance standards across production.

Responsibilities include using grinders and hand tools, inspecting for defects, and maintaining a clean, safe work area per 5S standards. Collaboration with fabrication, paint, and QC teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience or comfort using grinders, sanders, and hand tools.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with team members.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn proper surface prep techniques for powder coating.
• Physical capability to handle, lift, and clean parts safely.
• Commitment to workplace safety and proper use of PPE.

Responsibilities

• Use grinders, sanders, and tools to smooth surfaces and prep parts.
• Inspect materials for imperfections and correct as needed.
• Clean parts using air, wash bays, cloths, and solvents.
• Coordinate with fabrication, paint, and QC teams on prep standards.
• Maintain grinding equipment and tools; keep area clean and organized.
