Job summary

Hamilton Tanks LLC in Columbus, OH is seeking a precision-minded abrasive blaster to prepare steel tanks by removing coatings and contaminants and creating the required surface profile. You will verify that every finished part meets quality specs and report to the Shop Supervisor.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and are comfortable with PPE, respirators, and safe blasting practices. Experience in surface-prep is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Experience as an abrasive blaster or related surface-prep role (preferred).
• Familiarity with a range of shop concepts, practices, and procedures, or willingness to train.
• Working knowledge of manual sand and grit blasting machines, materials, processes, and practices.
• General knowledge of hand tools (chipping hammer, wire brush) and power tools (grinder, belt sander, palm sander).
• Pre-employment and safety compliance.
• Ability to pass background check, drug test, fit for duty test, and Respirator Fit Test.

Responsibilities

• Suit up with required PPE and respirator, perform a pre-use check of blasting equipment, and stage materials.
• Load the hopper by shoveling or pouring abrasive sand, grit, or steel shot of the specified grade.
• Start up and maintain blast delivery systems; set and regulate pressures to ensure a safe, efficient blasting environment.
• Direct the blast nozzle to remove rust and coatings; use scrapers, brushes, or abrasive papers for detailed areas.
• Inspect blasted surfaces to confirm finish and profile conform to specifications and document results.
• Report any safety concerns and maintain a clean, organized work area.
