Job summary

Southeast Steel Systems in Adel, Georgia is seeking an Estimator to accurately assess project costs for steel fabrication and manufacturing. The role collaborates with engineering, procurement, and production teams to prepare detailed, competitive cost estimates that support bidding and planning.

You will analyze blueprints and specifications, review materials and labor requirements, and ensure estimates reflect current market conditions, material costs, and production capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in steel fabrication or manufacturing estimating.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specs.
• Strong knowledge of steel materials, fabrication processes, and workflows.
• Experience with estimating software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project documents to determine scope and requirements.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, labor, equipment, subcontractor services, and overhead expenses.
• Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and delivery timelines.
• Analyze historical data and market trends to forecast costs and identify potential risks or savings opportunities.
• Communicate with project managers and clients to clarify project details and adjust estimates as necessary.
• Maintain and update estimating databases and documentation to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Support the bidding process by preparing proposals and participating in bid reviews and negotiations.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations throughout the estimating process.
