Job summary

Willow River Company in Wisconsin is seeking a detail-oriented Small Engine Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain outdoor power equipment. You will handle engines from 2-cycle to 4-cycle, ensuring peak performance for customers’ gear.

You will perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs, test equipment after service, and manage common parts. The role emphasizes clear explanations to customers and precise, hands-on workmanship.

Qualifications

• Experience working on brands like Honda, Stihl, Husqvarna, Briggs & Stratton, or Toro.
• Familiarity with pneumatic tools, torque wrenches, and diagnostic meters.
• Ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment (up to 75 lbs) onto work benches.
• Vocational training or manufacturer certifications (EETC) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostics: Identify mechanical, fuel, and electrical issues in 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines.
• Maintenance: Perform seasonal tune-ups, including oil changes, spark plug replacement, air filter cleaning, and blade sharpening.
• Repairs: Rebuild carburetors, replace recoil starters, fix ignition systems, and perform internal engine repairs.
• Testing: Test-run equipment post-repair to ensure safety features and performance specs.
• Parts Management: Look up parts diagrams and maintain organized inventory of common components.
