Job summary

Hardman Signs is hiring a dedicated Sander for our Houston fabrication team. The role focuses on meticulous surface preparation of sign components—metal, acrylic, and plastic—for painting, vinyl, or final finish.

You will use various sanders and must maintain high-quality craftsmanship, safety, and cleanliness. Key duties include surface prep, material-specific sanding, defect removal, and final inspection prior to finishing.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience: 1+ year in sanding, finishing, or surface prep in signage/auto/wood/metal fabrication preferred.
• Proficiency with pneumatic and electric sanding tools; read shop drawings/work orders.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and smooth surfaces of sign parts (channel letters, cabinets, monuments) using sanding tools.
• Select grit and abrasives based on material and finish.
• Remove weld seams, burrs, scratches, and filler to create a flawless surface for painting or finishing.
• Inspect parts for smoothness and adherence to blueprints; ensure surfaces are clean before finishing.
