Job summary

Torrey Holistics is seeking a Technical Owner to guide precision sheet metal projects from RFQ to delivery, translating customer drawings into manufacturable parts and modeling in AutoCAD or Autodesk Inventor.

You will engineer routing across laser cutting, forming, welding, and finishing, build BOMs, log design time, and coordinate with production and key accounts to ensure quotes and orders progress smoothly.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication.
  • 3–5 years of CAD drafting and 3D modeling experience (AutoCAD or Autodesk Inventor) in a manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated project management across a range of work, from custom components to large OEM orders.

Responsibilities

  • Process incoming orders within the ERP, interpreting drawings into 3D models and shop documentation.
  • Develop BOMs and process routings for sheet metal parts and assemblies.
  • Prepare precise, timely quotes in ERP based on client requests and process plans.
  • Serve as the primary contact for assigned key accounts from quotation through shipment.

About the RoleStep into a technical ownership role where you guide precision sheet metal projects from initial RFQ through delivery. You will translate customer drawings into manufacturable parts, model and detail in AutoCAD or Autodesk Inventor, engineer the routing across laser cutting, forming, welding, and finishing, and keep stakeholders aligned through clear communication and disciplined project tracking.A Day in the LifeStart by reviewing the ERP queue: convert RFQs into accurate quotations and update order statuses for key accounts.Open CAD to build clean 3D models and shop drawings, ready for fabrication.Engineer the process plan: choose fabrication methods, define routings and sequencing across laser cutting, press brake/forming, welding, and finishing operations.Create and maintain bills of material (BOMs) and log design/engineering time for project tracking.Coordinate with production to lock in schedules and resolve manufacturability questions.Communicate proactively with customers on quotes, order progress, and technical clarifications.Occasionally visit client facilities to review requirements and build relationships.Core ResponsibilitiesProcess incoming orders within the ERP, ensuring drawings/specifications are fully interpreted and translated into 3D models and shop documentation.Develop accurate BOMs and process routings for sheet metal parts and assemblies.Prepare precise, timely quotes in ERP based on client requests and process plans.Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned key accounts, aligning expectations from quotation through shipment.Maintain logs of design time and BOM revisions to support schedule, cost, and quality tracking.QualificationsMechanical Engineering degree or equivalent hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication.3–5 years of CAD drafting and 3D modeling experience (AutoCAD or Autodesk Inventor) in a manufacturing setting.Demonstrated project management across a range of work, from custom components to large OEM orders.Fluent in reading sheet metal drawings and producing accurate BOMs.Working knowledge of fabrication processes: laser cutting, press brake/forming, welding, and finishing—applied to process engineering, estimating, and order processing.Excellent written and verbal communication with production teams, clients, and leadership.Detail orientation, punctuality, and strong team collaboration.Self-directed and proactive while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.Proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.Experience using ERP systems for quoting, order processing, and inventory control.Competence using calipers, tape measures, and related quality control tools.You Should Be Proficient InProject ManagementCAD SoftwareManufacturing Instruction (MI)Design for Manufacturability (DFM)Mechanical Design & EngineeringMachines & Technologies You’ll Use3D Modeling (AutoCAD)CAD Software (AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor)ERP Software
