Job summary

Leggett & Platt is seeking a skilled sewing specialist in Michigan to sew and assemble fabric and leather covers for chairs and sofas, ensuring high-quality results. You will interpret patterns, follow lead instructions, and help maintain production records.

The role requires 6 months+ experience with industrial sewing machines, ability to operate single/double stitch and serge machines, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards. Training and development opportunities are provided.

Responsibilities

• Sew fabrics (fabric, leather, vinyl) for chairs, sofas and furniture
• Match cut pieces and sew with appropriate stitch to produce high quality covers
• Follow written and lead instructions and interpret specs
• Maintain production records and inspect materials
• Communicate quality concerns with supervisor and teams
• Maintain clean and organized work area and perform cycle counts
• Ensure safety standards are followed and report unsafe conditions
• Pursue training opportunities for self-development
