Job summary

Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) is seeking a sewing machine operator to perform basic sewing and repair of wearing apparel. This full-time position is located in Great Lakes, IL and requires twelve months of sewing experience. A U.S.

citizenship or three years of U.S. residency is required; a high school diploma or GED may substitute for part of the experience. You will operate a power sewing machine, work with lightweight to moderate items, and keep a clean, safe work area.

Qualifications

• Twelve months of experience operating a power sewing machine to sew or repair clothing.
• High School Diploma or GED may substitute for 6 months of experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or have lived in the U.S. for three years.

Responsibilities

• Assist in sewing items for authorized patrons; sew buttons, turn material under, and sew straight stitches on small items like pockets and hems.
• Operate a sewing machine and maintain clean, orderly work areas.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
