Job summary

Thorlabs is hiring an Inspector in Newton, NJ to perform visual and dimensional inspection of precision optics and mechanical components. You will use calipers, micrometers, indicators, and microscopes to verify conformance to prints and sampling plans.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to read drawings, and strong communication with peers. Some duties at other Thorlabs locations may be needed.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in a similar position preferred.
• Must be able to read mechanical drawings and interpret dimensional tolerances.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspection of precision parts using metrology devices.
• Identify non-conformances and document pass/fail decisions.
• Conduct detailed visual inspections, occasionally under microscopes.
• Maintain accurate records in the Manufacturing Database.
• Inspect products against manufacturing prints and specs.
• Handle and clean Specialty Fiber Optics, Precision Optics, and mechanical components.
