Job summary

The Gill Corporation in Maryland fabricates, cuts, and forms metallic and composite core materials for aerospace structural applications. Operates precision fabrication and metalworking equipment to manufacture parts to exact engineering specifications, tolerances, and aerospace quality standards.

All components must meet AS9100 and customer requirements for safety, traceability, and performance prior to release to the next operation or final shipment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in aerospace, aviation, or precision manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with close-tolerance fabrication
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Demonstrated proficiency in precision measurement tools.
  • Acceptable vision test results (as applicable).
  • Basic math proficiency (decimals, fractions, tolerances, conversions).
  • Strong English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills to understand technical documentation and procedures.
  • Ability to work assigned shift schedules, including mandatory overtime to support production milestones.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate aerospace structural components and honeycomb/composite core materials in accordance with engineering drawings, work orders, and manufacturing planning documents.
  • Interpret and follow sketches, specifications, and process sheets to meet close tolerance requirements (±.001–.005 inches typical).
  • Document and certify all process steps in accordance with aerospace quality and special process requirements, ensuring full traceability.
  • Perform layout, trimming, routing, chamfering, and cutting operations within specified tolerances.
  • Utilize precision measurement tools, including micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, height gauges, scales, protractors, and other inspection devices.
  • Operate fabrication equipment such as saws, routers, expanders, and roll formers
  • Perform core stabilization processes per established aerospace procedures.
  • Conduct routine operator-level preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and process control.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and FOD-free work areas in compliance with aerospace manufacturing standards.
  • Participate in cross‑training across multiple work cells, fabrication disciplines, or aircraft programs as required.
  • Adhere strictly to plant safety policies, PPE requirements, and environmental health standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support production schedules and customer commitments.

Compensation for this role

$21.00-$23.00 hourly, PLUS Shift Differential - $2.00/hr for 2nd and $3.00/hr for 3rd

Shifts
  • 2nd shift: Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
  • 3rd shift: Sunday - Thursday, 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM
Summary

Fabricates, cuts, and forms metallic and composite core materials for aerospace structural applications. Ensures all components meet AS9100 and customer requirements for safety, traceability, and performance prior to release to the next operation or final shipment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following
  • Fabricate aerospace structural components and honeycomb/composite core materials in accordance with engineering drawings, work orders, and manufacturing planning documents.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
