Job summary

American Heavy Plates in Ohio seeks a General Labor/Operator A to press and verify plate flatness and assist in setup. You will read tape measures, use taper gauges, set up plates on press beds, operate cranes, and record inspection data in ERP.

This role requires a high school diploma, ability to stand long hours, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a rolling mill/steel service center environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Ability to read a taper gauge using a straight edge.
• Knowledge of plate setup on a press.
• Excellent hand–eye coordination.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Experience operating a crane.

Responsibilities

• Locate and verify material to be pressed.
• Inspect plates’ flatness using a straight edge and taper gauge.
• Set up plate on press bed using spacers blocks.
• Verify the tolerance for the plate to be pressed.
• Record inspection forms and ERP data.
• Operate cranes as needed.
• All duties of General Labor/Operator A as assigned.
