Job summary

Steel Technologies LLC is seeking a Press Operator to manage the complete operation of the press, set equipment guides, inspect products, measure dimensions, and align machine parts. This role requires safety focus and attention to detail, contributing to our reputation for customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities include loading coils, checking gauges, setting up dies, and communicating any quality issues to supervision.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand material tags and production instructions.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
• Proficient with measurement tools and gauges.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil.
• Check and record gauge, width, hardness, camber, burr, and surface requirements.
• Thread coil through leveler/flattener, feed unit.
• Setup dies in the press with the part and scrap chutes/conveyors.
• Setup the press/levelers/flattener to the required program or parameters.
• Make minor adjustments to the press/dies/conveyors to produce product at a reasonable rate.
• Run coil at maximum rate that will produce compliant product.
• Monitor strip condition to ensure compliance with specs.
• Setup skids on conveyors to avoid production disruption.
• Remove scrap and keep area clean.
• Convey customer packaging specifications and report non-compliance.
• Communicate non-compliance or quality problems to supervisor.
