Job summary

Matthews International is seeking a Plate Maker to produce polymer printing plates from sheet material. You will sort orders, set up processes, operate exposure and finishing equipment, and perform quality checks to ensure specifications are met.

The role requires basic math, MS Office proficiency, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail. Overtime may be required; safety and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 1+ year of experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook and Internet applications.
• Analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal and problem-solving skills; budgeting and project management.
• Strong verbal and written communication; analysis and reasoning.
• Basic math concepts understanding.
• Ability to collaborate across the organization and with clients.
• Able to work autonomously and in a fast-paced team environment.
• Ability to influence peers and management.
• Self-motivation with attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
• Mechanical aptitude; use of hand tools, power tools, forklifts, welding equipment.
• Willingness to work overtime as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Sorts and prioritizes orders by due date and plate thickness.
• Inspects and cleans film negatives prior to polymer processing.
• Reviews order to determine material, thickness, and digital specifications.
• Arranges film layout to optimize exposure area and tapes film.
• Determines exposure times to produce quality plates.
• Operates lasers, exposure unit, batch processor and dryer/finishing unit.
• Performs quality checks to ensure plates meet specifications.
• Maintains work area and equipment; monitors safety conditions.
• Maintains inventory of plates and processing materials.
• Provides backup coverage for Shipping/Receiving and Proofing.
