Job summary

Rocket EMS, Inc. is seeking a Rework Technician to modify, repair, or replace PCBA components to meet customer specifications in a cleanroom, ESD-controlled environment.

You will use hand soldering, hot air rework stations, and other tools to meet IPC-A-610 and IPC-7711/7721 standards while following ECOs and process documentation. Expect rigorous, detail-oriented work and clear communication with engineering and production teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in electronics preferred.
• 2+ years of PCBA rework or repair experience.
• Proficiency in hand soldering of fine-pitch SMT and through-hole components.
• IPC-A-610 and IPC-7711/7721 certifications strongly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform rework and repair of PCBAs using hand soldering, hot air rework stations, and other specialized tools.
• Remove and replace SMT and through-hole components without damaging the board or surrounding components.
• Interpret rework instructions, ECOs, and assembly documentation.
• Inspect completed work using magnification and/or X-ray equipment to ensure IPC standards.
• Troubleshoot defects in PCBAs including shorts, open circuits, misaligned parts.
• Document repairs and maintain accurate records of rework activities.
• Communicate rework requirements or improvements with engineering and production teams.
• Follow all ESD, safety, and cleanliness protocols.
