Job summary

Jobtailor in San Francisco is seeking a hands-on electronics technician to perform soldering and PCB rework on small components, often under a microscope. You will work closely with engineers on rapid design iterations and document results from functional tests.

The role requires meticulous attention to detail, comfort with lab environments, and the ability to follow detailed instructions. Experience with IPC standards and calibration of test equipment is a plus.

Qualifications

Hands-on soldering and PCB rework on small components.
Work under a microscope on delicate parts.
Strong attention to detail and precise following of instructions.
Experience with electronics testing and lab equipment.
Self-starter with startup environment adaptability.
Nice to have: regulated environment, medical devices.
Familiar with IPC standards IPC-A-610/600/7711/7721/6012/6013.
Exposure to calibration or lab coordination.

Responsibilities

Solder and rework PCBs, including 0201 discretes and fine-pitch BGAs under a microscope.
Implement board modifications, debug issues, and support rapid iterations.
Follow work instructions, schematics, and test procedures with accuracy.
Run functional tests on hardware; document results clearly.
Support incoming inspection and ensure hardware meets quality standards.
Assist lab operations including organization and equipment upkeep.
Calibrate and maintain test equipment; coordinate with vendors.
Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and improve designs.
