Job summary

Fort Wayne Metals is seeking a Precision Parts Assembler 2 in Fort Wayne, IN. The role offers a Monday-Friday schedule with no weekends and starts at $20.51/hour, rising to $24.13/hour within about six months.

You may work 2nd or 3rd shifts with a $1.50 premium for those shifts. You will read blueprints, troubleshoot machines, adjust settings, inspect produced parts, and maintain traceability and safety standards in a fast-paced, safety-focused team environment.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of machine operator or manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to perform basic computer functions.
  • Possess intermediate math, reading, and writing skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude, preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good hand dexterity.
  • Understand and apply safe work practices.
  • Fast-paced production environment.
  • May work with and around hazardous chemicals.
  • Exposure to fluctuating temperatures may occur.
  • Average weights in production range from 10-25 lbs. Maximum weights may exceed 75-80 lbs. on occasion
  • May be required to perform work above shoulder height
  • Frequent bending, twisting, lifting and squatting
  • Must be able to access all areas of operation
  • Standing/walking most of shift

Responsibilities

  • Ability to interpret blueprints to shape wire with a fixture without damaging the wire in the process
  • Troubleshoot and adjust machines according to customer specifications
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Understand the operating features of the equipment used in the department and be able to effectively make adjustments to operating parameters of that equipment
  • Visually inspect material coming off resources, acting as first line inspection, to ensure quality of product
  • Follow all procedures for traceability, line clearance, process control, safety, and housekeeping
