Job summary

Oshkosh Corporation’s JLG division seeks a Paint Prep I to prepare parts for painting, including wiping, sanding, inspecting, plugging, and masking components. The role also involves removing debris, hanging parts with overhead hoists, and ensuring parts meet quality standards.

Additional duties include operating material handling equipment and maintaining inventory while upholding safety and 6S standards in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Certifications in forklift, tugger, tractor and telescopic material handling required.
  • Ability to work overtime including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Regular and reliable attendance on-site is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Wipe, sand, and inspect parts, including preparation for paint repair.
  • Plug and mask parts to ensure proper paint adhesion.
  • Blow out excess water and debris from cavities within parts.
  • Operate overhead hoist to hang parts for painting.
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet production and quality standards.
  • Assist in identifying and addressing root causes of paint defects.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment such as forklifts or tuggers.
  • Maintain inventory by labeling, stocking, and recording materials and supplies when needed.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with safety procedures and 6S standards.
