Job summary

GTC is seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler for a large-scale naval equipment assembly facility. You will perform assembly work with attention to tolerances, use calipers, gauges and grinders, and follow NAVSEA requirements to ensure safe, compliant builds.

The role demands long shifts in a noisy, heavy manufacturing environment with crane operations and strict safety protocols. A high school diploma and basic mechanical aptitude are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• US citizenship required.
• Minimum one-year related experience in heavy mechanical assembly.
• Experience with NAVSEA specifications or military standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes assembly blueprint and specifications manual.
• Verifies conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints with measuring instruments.
• Lay out hole locations and drill tap holes for assembly.
• Aligns components and bolts, screws, dowels, welds or rivets for assembly.
• Removes high spots and smoothes surfaces using chisels and grinders.
• Test operation of assembly by hand and ensure safety standards.
