Job summary

Grand Haven Custom Molding is seeking a Tool Room Technician to maintain, repair and improve plastic injection molds, dies, tools and fixtures. This role supports preventive maintenance and production reliability through precision machining and tooling troubleshooting.

The technician works with engineers, maintenance and production teams to return tooling to service and ensure it meets specifications. Strong mechanical skills, blueprints reading and problem solving are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5–10 years in plastic injection molding as a toolmaker/die maker.
• Experience repairing fixtures, dies, molds, gauges, and other tooling.
• Experience setting up plastic injection molding machines.
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repair molds and dies.
• Set up lathes, mills, grinders and related tool room equipment.
• Read blueprints and specs to determine materials and machine needs.
• Inspect tooling and adjust to meet specifications.
• Move molds using cranes and forklifts safely.
• Suggest design or tooling improvements when needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area.
