Texas Oncology is looking for an Oncology Precision Medicine Informaticist Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team! This is a fully remote position based out of the corporate office in Dallas, Texas.

Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country, with approximately 600+ providers across 280+ sites in Texas and southeastern Oklahoma. What does the Clinical Data Scientist do?

The Precision Medicine Informaticist will translate and document unstructured clinical information into structured data, review clinical info in textual/pdf formats, and transcribe information into structured data fields. They will assist in transcribing precision medicine test results into the EMR and collaborate with data scientists and clinicians to identify eligible patients for clinical trials. Adherence to US Oncology Compliance and ethical standards is required.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with team members to determine data requirements and extract patient data from EHR/LIS/CVP into the clinical data repository.
  • Apply clinical knowledge and familiarity with EMR systems, with experience in IKnowMed strongly preferred.
  • Perform data queries and chart reviews within applications like the EMR.
  • Provide clinical support and education to the Precision Medicine Team in medical oncology.
  • Identify and resolve application problems.
  • Provide feedback to development teams regarding workflow and technological solutions.
  • Respond to routine and complex inquiries professionally and promptly.
  • Review co-workers' work for accuracy.
  • Review patients for qualifying electronic alerts and reporting as needed.
  • Participate in project development and virtual tumor board preparations.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing or clinical informatics program; BSN or related degree preferred.
  • Minimum five years of clinical experience.
  • Oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Background in nursing, med tech, or medicine preferred.
  • Strong healthcare computer system skills.
  • Experience with data analysis, management, and evaluation tools preferred.
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in IKnowMed and Excel preferred.
