Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for our Brewton, AL containerboard facility. This highly skilled hourly role requires safe work practices, preventative maintenance, precision repair work, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment.

The position starts at $43.11 hourly with a 7:00 am–3:30 pm, Monday–Friday schedule. Shifts may vary including holidays/weekends, with overtime and on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Must understand safe work practices and follow mill safety guidelines.
• Experience with mechanical repairs in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
• Ability to read blueprints, P&ID diagrams, and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Champion Safety by prioritizing safe work practices and maintaining a safe work environment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and mechanical repairs on manufacturing and utility equipment (motors, pumps, gears, belts, seals, compressors, etc.).
• Troubleshoot rotating equipment and conveyors; install belts, bearings, seals, and couplings.
• Use welding tools, rigging gear, and precision measuring devices to repair and fabricate parts.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems; perform machining setup on mills, lathes, and drills.
• Operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and cranes as required; read schematics and process diagrams.
