Job summary
Colonial Group in Phoenix, AZ seeks a skilled machinist to set up and operate lathes and mills to produce precision parts, including repair work on pumps and turbines. You will measure with micrometers and calipers, maintain tight tolerances, and perform routine shop maintenance to ensure reliability.
The ideal candidate has experience threading tubes, handling precision tools, and troubleshooting equipment.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate manual threading inside and outside tubes in a machine shop.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance per guidelines.
- Produce parts with extremely close tolerances.
- Repair, dismantle, install or move machinery and equipment.
- Knowledge of maintenance and repair of mechanical systems.
- Inspect and adjust to meet job specs.
- Prefer 2 years of experience.
Responsibilities
- Operate manual lathes and end mills to produce parts for pumps and repairs.
- Disassemble and rebuild turbines and pumps as needed.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using micrometers and calipers.
- Align fixtures, tools, and materials on machines.
- Monitor feed and speed during machining process.
- Machine parts to specifications using lathes, mills, grinders.
- Test finished units for defects and conformance to specs.
- Perform daily maintenance and repair reports.
