Job summary

Florida State University’s Department of Physics I seeks a skilled fabricator to design, build, and modify precision instrumentation. You will use CNC machining centers, lathes, and CAM/CAD tools to produce components for research and teaching labs.

Collaborating with faculty, scientists, and students, you will help prototype instruments and provide technical expertise throughout fabrication, training staff, and ensuring safety and compliance with university policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Fabricates and modifies precision instrumentation to tight tolerances using CNC machines and CAM/CAD tools.
• Operates and maintains precision fabrication equipment and performs routine preventive maintenance.
• Collaborates with faculty and students to design prototypes, tooling, and classroom apparatus.
