Job summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems in Wilkes-Barre is seeking a skilled Machinist to set up and operate machine tools to process metal parts according to project specs.

You will read blueprints, adjust feeds and speeds, secure workpieces, inspect output with gauges, and ensure safety and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong CNC or manual machining background preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous Machinist/Toolmaker/CNC Set Up experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operates machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, swages and bending machines per training and safety procedures.
• Reads blueprints or job orders to obtain product specs and tooling instructions.
• Applies knowledge of machining methods to work pieces.
• Positions and secures work pieces using clamps, chucks or fixtures.
• Sets feeds, speeds and depth of cut per product specs.
• Inspects machined parts with gauges, calipers, micrometers and comparable tools.
• Maintains tools, gauges and equipment in a clean, safe manner.
• Communicates with management to analyze product information and plan layouts.
