Job summary

Jeffco Public Schools seeks a CTE Instructor to lead the Precision Machining program at Warren Tech. You will teach CNC milling, manual operations, and Swiss/5-axis topics, coordinating with counselors and industry partners to prepare students for college credits and machining careers.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s in a related field or equivalent certs, with experience in manufacturing and classroom instruction, and are prepared to engage with industry partnerships and skill certifications.

Qualifications

  • 24 semester hours of related postsecondary coursework including at least three semester hours in four of the listed areas.
  • Hold valid AWS welding or related certifications (NOCTI, NAM, MSSC, NIMS, SME) in manufacturing.
  • 2,000 hours of verified occupational experience with a bachelor’s, or 4,000 hours without, in the content area.
  • Three years of verified teaching in the content area (full-time defined as 51% or more).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver Precision Machining instruction (Machine Shop Fundamentals, Manual/Multi-axis operations).
  • Supervise student work in classroom and field experiences.
  • Collaborate with Warren Tech staff to ensure student success and program alignment with industry certifications.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Warren Tech is the premier Career and Technical Education (CTE) center for Jefferson County Public Schools. An educational and technological leader, Warren Tech integrates academics in career and technical education, preparing students for both college and career. Warren Tech students are engaged and committed to their programs, which is evidenced by a 93% attendance rate, 96% graduation rate, and a 97% program completion rate. Virtually all programs offer academic credit in 11th or 12th grade math, science, and English, which counts toward their graduation. AP coursework is also offered by some programs. Another hallmark of Warren Tech's success is the college credit awarded to our students each year. Last year, our students earned nearly 13,000 Red Rocks Community College credits. A large number of students attend colleges and universities after finishing Warren Tech, and some students have even earned an Associate's degree in a Warren Tech program before they finish high school. Warren Tech students also earn industry certifications through their coursework and participate in client work, internships, and job shadows with industry partners. ABOUT YOU

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Content Knowledge:

? 24 semester hours of related postsecondary coursework verified on an official transcript to include a minimum of three (3) semester hours of content coursework in four (4) of the following areas:

Introduction to Manufacturing Technology

Safety in the workplace

Automation and Production Technology

Pathway specific courses

OR

? Hold valid and current AWS welding or AWS certified welding inspector certification, NOCTI certification exams, NAM-endorsed manufacturing skills certification, MSSC certified production technical credential, NIMS certifications or SME certified manufacturing technologist certification.

2. Occupational Experience:

Credit for student teaching (up to 800 hours) in the content area may be applied to either occupational or teaching experience

? Bachelor?s or higher degree: 2,000 hours of verified occupational (non-teaching) experience in the content area

OR

? Less than a bachelor?s degree: 4,000 hours of verified occupational (non-teaching) experience in the content area

OR

? Three (3) years verified teaching experience in the content area (full-time is defined as 51% or more of a teaching schedule dedicated to teaching in the content area).

Preferred:

Experience with MasterCam

Additional industry certifications will be considered

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge and skills in CNC (Milling and Turning)
  • Knowledge and experience in 5 Axis
  • Knowledge and experience in Metrology
  • Knowledge and experience in Wire EDM
  • Knowledge and experience in SWISS

Job Goal:

  • Support and oversee the Precision Machining program
  • Prepare students for further studies and career opportunities in the machining and manufacturing career pathway, including required hours for Red Rock Community College concurrent enrollment coursework.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance Responsibilities:

Instructional Planning and Delivery:

  • Applicants for this position will be expected to be part of an instructional team, teaching students in the following curriculum areas:
    • Machine Shop Fundamentals & Manual Machine Operator
    • Manual Machine Operator and Wire EDM Operator
    • CNC Mill Operator, CNC Lathe Operator
    • Swiss Screw Machine or 5 Axis Milling
  • Plan and supervise the work of students in the classroom and in field experiences
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the requirements of the instructional program
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure student learning and success
  • Make changes in instruction as needed to meet students needs
  • Collaborate with other Warren Tech programs
  • Work with the Warren Tech special education teachers to differentiate the curricula as needed for students who need extra instructional support
  • Plan with English as Second Language (ESL) teachers to support students when English is their second language
  • Co-teach post-secondary workforce readiness with counselors and instructional coaches (resume workshops, transferable skills, mock interviews, etc.)
  • Teach standards and competencies required for college credit and certifications
  • Manage Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) and develop leadership opportunities for students (SkillsUSA)
  • Complete all required compliance documentation for your CTE program

Monitoring Student Progress and Potential:

  • Develop and administer ongoing short-term and long-term assessments of student learning and achievement
  • Prepare students for the rigor of college-level/concurrent enrollment Precision Machining course work
  • Advise students in next steps in pursuing a Manufacturing career path
  • Communicate with students and families on student progress
  • Grade student work and enter grades into grading management system for Warren Tech and concurrent enrollment partner
  • Work regularly with counselors, administration, and other support staff to support student success

Classroom Management and Organization:

  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for physical, social, and emotional development of students
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities

Marketing & Community Outreach:

  • Ability to market Precision Machining program to students, staff, parents, and the business community
  • Strong organizational, marketing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Identify potential business partners as it relates to opportunities for enhancing the student experience
  • Collaborate with local public and private manufacturing institutes of higher education
  • Develop and promote positive relationships with fellow staff members, industry partners, high schools, the community, and other clientele
