Job summary

SSAB in Sharon, PA is seeking a driven machine operator to perform setups, operate and maintain welders and special‑purpose machines, and ensure parts meet customer specifications.

You will inspect with calipers and micrometers, follow blueprints, keep logs, and coordinate with maintenance and suppliers. Requires 1–2+ years’ experience, forklift cert, valid driver’s license, and ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2+ years of machine operator experience in manufacturing.
• Technical degree or equivalent is preferred.
• Forklift certification and ability to operate light equipment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, customer-focused.

Responsibilities

• Perform machine setups and calibrations to start production cycles.
• Operate special‑purpose machines and equipment for production/cutting.
• Inspect welded pieces using calipers, micrometers and gauges.
• Maintain and troubleshoot welders and machines; replace worn parts.
• Ensure equipment operates safely and report issues to vendors as needed.
• Move materials and operate hand tools, forklift and crane (certs required).
• Document production output and maintain activity logs.
• Study blueprints to ensure accuracy of tasks.
