Job summary

Kennebec Lumber Company is seeking a Forklift Operator to ensure efficient shipping of lumber and organized yard inventory. You will follow safety procedures and work under the supervision of the manager to support the company mission and standards.

Daily duties include loading and unloading trucks, tagging lumber, scanning tags for shipping paperwork, stacking by size and species, and adhering to PPE and safety rules in the yard.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trucks with accuracy
• Communicate with dispatcher and track daily shipping activity
• Print and tag lumber as needed
• Scan lumber tags with handheld to generate shipping paperwork
• Stack and sort full rows to maximum height capacity
• Stack 3-4 packs high on hot top
• Bases must be two full packs; do not stack on partial packs
• Group all species and sizes; lumber must be 6 ft from buildings
• Keep yard free of loose blocking and rack-picked items
• Clear debris (strapping, etc.) from yard
• Ensure forklift is cleaned and inspected daily
• Perform other related duties as assigned
• Safety first: PPE hard hat, fluorescent vests, eye and hearing protection
• Steel-toed footwear required in all yard areas
• Hearing protection required near running equipment, except inside cab
• Report near misses and unsafe acts
• Maintain pedestrian awareness in the yard
• Follow Kennebec Lumber Company employee handbook policies
• Radio communication and acknowledgment
• Maintain professionalism at all times
• Answer calls promptly
• Clean up after yourself and participate in department housekeeping
