Job summary

Southern Fabricators, Inc. is seeking a Laser Operator for a full-time, on-site position in Polkton, NC. The successful candidate will set up and operate laser cutting equipment to produce metal components that meet specifications.

You will read work orders, adjust machine settings, measure parts with calipers and tape measures, and maintain a clean, safe work area while following all safety policies. Prior laser cutting experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating laser cutting machinery in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to accurately use calipers, tape measures, and other precision tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Basic understanding of laser cutting operations, equipment settings, and maintenance.
• Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
• Physical ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks; lift up to 100 lbs.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor laser cutting machines to produce metal components.
• Adjust laser settings and machine parameters to ensure accurate cuts.
• Read and interpret work orders, drawings, and measurements to verify cutting requirements.
• Use precision measuring tools to inspect finished parts and verify dimensions.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
• Identify and report malfunctions or quality concerns to the supervisor.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and surrounding area.
• Follow all safety policies and operating guidelines.
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules.
