Job summary

Impulse Space is seeking a Precision Inspector in Redondo Beach to ensure spacecraft and engine hardware meet stringent spaceflight standards. The role requires performing detailed inspections, using drawings and CAD models, and coordinating with CMM programmers to verify conformance to design requirements.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of inspection experience in aerospace, aviation, military or manufacturing.
  • Experience with spaceflight hardware preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process inspections on spacecraft and engine hardware using drawings, CAD models, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with CMM programmers and perform final inspections.
  • Identify, document, and resolve production and test anomalies per procedures and services.
  • Communicate quality issues across engineering departments and initiate corrective actions.
  • Document non-conformances and support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives.

Precision Inspector

Department: Quality

Location: Redondo Beach

Compensation: $35.00 - $45.00 / hour

Description

As a Precision Inspector at Impulse, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that every component, system, and process involved in building spacecraft & engine hardware meets our rigorous standards for spaceflight.

Responsibilities
  • Provide detailed in-process inspections on spacecraft & engine hardware (electrical, mechanical, propulsion) assemblies, using detailed drawings, CAD models, and established processes to verify conformance to design requirements
  • Work alongside CMM programmers, performing final inspection
  • Identify, document, and resolve production and test anomalies in accordance with prescribed procedures and pursue corrective action as required
  • Communicate and help resolve quality related issues as they relate to the specific engineering departments
  • Document production non-conformances in accordance with prescribed procedures and processes as required
  • Support quality management system policies and procedure documentation, assess compliance to company and industry standards, initiate and lead continual improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 4+ years of inspection experience in an aerospace, aviation, military or manufacturing environment
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • 6+ years of demonstrated hands-on experience with spaceflight hardware
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience working with metrology or CMM hardware
  • Experience with quality assurance principles, methods, and processes
  • Demonstrated experience working with electrical, mechanical, structural, or propulsion assemblies
  • Experience with performing electronic testing and inspections using portable measuring devices
  • Strong understanding of safety programs and OSHA regulations and requirements
  • Practical experience working within quality management systems (AS9100 and ISO 9001)

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
