Job summary

Impulse Space in Redondo Beach, CA, seeks a Head of Build Reliability to establish quality standards for all flight hardware. You will collaborate with propulsion, vehicle, and avionics teams to ensure timely, high-quality parts and to continuously improve the quality system.

You will lead the development and execution of quality plans, oversee AS9100 certification efforts, and mentor teams across manufacturing, quality, and design disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is required.
• 8+ years in a fast paced manufacturing, quality, build reliability and/or design engineering role.
• Demonstrated experience building or optimizing a quality management system.
• Hands-on approach to setting up quality systems and solving quality problems.

Responsibilities

• Establish quality methodology for tracking quality issues throughout the manufacturing process
• Build, develop & maintain systems to address quality problems that improve reliability and speed production
• Lead cross functional teams to deliver quality improvement projects
• Assist the production and supply chain teams with hardware non-conformance tracking and ensuring all non-conformances are resolved quickly
• Develop manufacturing quality standards and inspection procedures
• Identify, source and set up quality inspection equipment and train operators on best practices and processes
• Build out Impulse Quality Plan and documentation that build towards certification against AS9100

Description

As the Head of Build Reliability at Impulse, you will be responsible for establishing our quality standards for all flight hardware. Working with propulsion, vehicle, avionics teams (and more) to ensure timely, and high quality built parts. Develop, maintain and continuously improve Impulse's quality system.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Skills And Experience

• 10+ years in a quality engineering leadership role working on launch vehicles, spacecraft or satellites
• Demonstrated experience working with, or implementing AS9100 standards
• Demonstrated technical writing skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with engineering, production teams and all involved teams

Additional Information

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
