Precision Grinding and CNC Offset TechnicianLocation: Sedalia, MO — Gardner Denver (305 N State Fair Blvd., Sedalia, MO 65301)Schedule: 2nd Shift, Monday–Friday, 3:30 PM–12:00 AMYour shift, your craftAt 3:30 PM, you step onto the floor at Gardner Denver—part of Ingersoll Rand’s Industrial Technologies and Services business—where raw castings begin their transformation into world-class blowers and compressors. You’ll move components with a forklift or overhead crane, set up grinders to hold two-tenths (±0.0002 in) on diameters, and balance rotating assemblies both statically and dynamically. Between builds, you’ll interpret blueprints, follow torque specs, take precise measurements, and assemble to exact customer requirements using both standard and specialty tools. As production flows, you’ll read CNC program code, make offsets, and perform light edits while watching machine behavior to ensure parts meet spec. You keep your area organized, flag quality issues and unsafe conditions, and ask the right questions to improve the process. You work with limited supervision, adapt to changing priorities, and deliver consistent, high-quality results. What you’ll handleOperate grinding equipment to hold ±0.0002 in on OD diametersBalance rotating assemblies (static and dynamic) to specificationUse forklifts, overhead cranes, and walk-behind lifts safelyAssemble equipment per blueprints and customer specs; apply correct torque valuesMeasure, document, and verify dimensions; maintain clean work areaUnderstand, edit, and offset CNC programs by reading code and observing machine performanceIdentify quality defects and address unsafe conditions promptlyWhat you bring2+ years in machining; CNC experience preferred (strong manual experience considered)Proven ability to hold tight tolerances, specifically ±0.0002 in on ground diametersComfort reading and interpreting mechanical drawings/blueprintsCapability to make CNC offsets and minor program editsHands-on with precision gauges: OD mics, snap gauges, height gauges, and similar toolsSolid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving approachAbility to lift up to 40 lbs throughout the shiftExperience operating cranes and walk-behind liftsHigh school diploma or GED preferred (not required)Preferred proficienciesDiagnosing equipment issues and mechanical troubleshootingMaterial handling familiarityCNC setups and changeoversPrecision metrology and hand measurement expertiseMachine geometry and alignment fundamentalsSetting up machines for production runsClear communication and solid shop mathConfident blueprint interpretationWhy join Gardner Denver | Ingersoll RandWe design and build mission-critical flow creation equipment for industrial, commercial, and government customers.
