Job summary

G&W Electric is seeking a Grinder to operate band saws, grinders, and related tooling in a mid- to heavy-duty manufacturing setting in Illinois. You will set up equipment, read instructions, and maintain quality while ensuring safety and efficiency.

You will train others when needed, report production metrics, and document process steps to support a clean, compliant production line. Prior foundry experience is preferred; High School diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent experience.
• 6+ months of manufacturing experience preferred, ideally in a foundry.
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions and communicate with supervisor.
• Must safely use small hand and power tools and wear PPE as required.
• Ability to operate a variety of machinery and follow verbal/written instructions in English.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate band saw, abrasive saw, sand grinder, belt grinder and portable pneumatic grinding tools.
• Use various hand tools such as hammers, chisels and files.
• May operate and load the blast cleaning machine.
• Report production quantities and items for each work order.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following procedures and rules.
• Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
• Train others in machine operator tasks as needed.
• Inspect all work for defects before handing off to the next operation.
• Document actions by completing production and quality forms.
