Job summary

Airgas in West Allis, WI, is seeking a Plant Operator to safely fill gas products into liquid, medical and high‑pressure cylinders, following all regulations and Airgas procedures. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and adherence to SOPs across the production floor.

The operator will perform cylinder analyses, calculate gas mixtures, confirm safe compatibility of cylinder/valve combinations, and document results while also operating control panels and forklifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Mechanical aptitude and safety compliance with Airgas/OSHA rules.
• Minimum 1 year of related technical experience; equivalent education considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs cylinder analyses & supports alignment with government and company standards.
• Calculates gas mixtures to contribute to quality standards and documents results.
• Ensures that a mixture can be safely made. Identifies and coordinates cylinder and valve combinations to ensure compatibility with the mix and compliance.
• Operates control panels, containing valves and pressure gauges, and scales with a precision-oriented approach to gas mixtures.
• Completes all meaningful records to accurately capture all production actions. Upholds and promotes company procedures and government regulations relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials.
• Safely operates a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse/material-handling equipment.
• Loads/unloads cylinders on/off pallets; ensuring they are strapped in.
• Contributing to team success as needed.
