Job summary

Independence Tooling is seeking a Mechanical Builder to join our team, building fixtures, jigs, gauges, and tooling per engineering drawings and CAD models. You will interpret blueprints and GD&T to ensure accuracy, perform precision fitting and alignment, and operate machining equipment to fabricate and repair components.

Responsibilities include functional testing, issue resolution, and adherence to the quality system. Prior assembly experience with automotive or aerospace tooling is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in fixture/tool building.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Knowledge of materials, machining, and mathematics.
• Familiar with automotive and aerospace tooling, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
• Prior assembly experience required.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble fixtures, jigs, gauges, and tooling according to drawings, CAD models, and specs.
• Interpret blueprints and GD&T requirements to ensure accurate construction.
• Perform precision fitting and alignment to meet tolerances and quality standards.
• Operate hand/power tools and machining equipment to fabricate, modify, and repair components.
• Conduct functional testing and verification of fixtures for proper operation.
• Troubleshoot fixture-related issues to minimize downtime and maintain efficiency.
