Job summary

Leidos Undersea Systems Division seeks a Precision Fiber Optics Winding Technician to support fabrication, assembly, and quality assurance of precision wound fiber optics packs, and to assist in developing winding lab infrastructure. The role is hands-on, mechanically inclined, and suitable for dynamic field and marine environments.

The ideal candidate will perform OTDR tests, splice and test fiber connections, read engineering prints, and work with NC lathes, drill presses, and milling machines

Qualifications

• Citizenship required and ability to obtain/maintain SECRET clearance.
• Requires strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting.
• Must create and maintain clean workspaces and log quality data.
• Must handle hazardous materials responsibly (solvents, polyurethane).
• Ability to work in lab, shop, dockside and at-sea environments with physical demands.

Responsibilities

• Winding precision fiber-optic packs and supporting lab infrastructure.
• Follow rigorous quality standards and maintain quality records.
• Perform OTDR testing and test fiber-optic connections as needed.
• Read and interpret engineering prints; build to specifications.
• Operate or learn NC lathes, drill presses and milling machines; use hand tools.
