Charter Manufacturing is a fourth-generation family-owned business focused on growth and delivering high-quality precision fabrications. The Precision Fabricator will build, modify, repair, and troubleshoot vibratory feeder bowls and related automation components, working closely with Engineering, Automation, Production, and Maintenance teams.

You will use advanced fabrication, welding, machining, and mechanical skills to ensure equipment meets part orientation, flow, quality, and performance

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fabrication, machining, tooling or related work experience.
• Demonstrated experience with TIG welding, precision fabrication, and working with stainless steel and carbon steel.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
• High school diploma or equivalent; willingness to obtain GED.
• Technical degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent skilled trades experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency using precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, modify, and repair vibratory feeder bowls, tracks, escapements, and tooling.
• Build stainless steel and carbon steel assemblies from drawings and specs.
• Perform precision TIG, MIG, and other welding processes as required.
• Fit, grind, polish, and finish fabricated components to meet functional and cosmetic requirements.
• Assemble and test mechanical feeding systems and automation components.
• Operate manual and CNC mills, lathes, grinders, and drill presses.
• Manufacture tooling, fixtures, brackets, and machine components.
• Measure with calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges, and other inspection tools.
• Interpret GD&T and engineering drawings.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Precision Fabricator builds, modifies, repairs, and troubleshoots custom part feeding systems, tooling, and precision-fabricated components. This role uses advanced fabrication, welding, machining, and mechanical skills to ensure equipment consistently meets required part orientation, flow, quality, and performance standards. The Precision Fabricator works closely with Engineering, Automation, Production, and Maintenance to solve complex mechanical challenges, improve equipment reliability, and support safe and efficient operations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years of fabrication, machining, tooling, bowl making, or related.
• Demonstrated experience with TIG welding, precision fabrication, and custom metalworking – stainless steel and carbon steel.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
• High school diploma or equivalent required, or the willingness to obtain a GED.
• Technical degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent skilled trades experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency using precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience building or tuning vibratory feeder bowls and automated part feeding systems.
• Toolmaker, Die Maker, Precision Fabricator, Machine Builder, or Automation Technician background.
• Experience with stainless steel fabrication and polishing.
• Knowledge of automation systems, sensors, pneumatics, and basic controls.
• Familiarity with CAD drawings and manufacturing design concepts.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Fabricate, modify, and repair vibratory feeder bowls, tracks, escapements, and associated tooling.
• Build custom stainless steel and carbon steel assemblies from engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications.
• Perform precision TIG, MIG, and other welding processes as required.
• Fit, grind, polish, and finish fabricated components to meet functional and cosmetic requirements.
• Assemble and test mechanical feeding systems and automation components.

Machining & Tooling

• Operate manual and CNC machining equipment including mills, lathes, grinders, and drill presses.
• Manufacture custom tooling, fixtures, brackets, and machine components.
• Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges, and other inspection equipment.
• Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.

Bowl Tuning & Troubleshooting

• Tune vibratory feeder bowls and part feeding systems to achieve required feed rates, orientation, and performance.
• Diagnose and correct part flow issues, jams, wear conditions, and feeding inconsistencies.
• Modify tooling and bowl features to improve throughput, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Conduct functional testing and validation of completed systems.

Maintenance & Repair

• Repair and rebuild existing bowl feeders and automation tooling.
• Evaluate worn or damaged components and determine repair or replacement requirements.
• Support maintenance and production teams with troubleshooting and corrective actions.
• Maintain tooling and fabrication equipment in safe working condition.
• Recommend design modifications to improve manufacturability, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Automation, Production, and Maintenance teams on new and existing projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve feeder performance, reduce downtime, and increase efficiency.
• Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
• Ability to work with hand tools, fabrication equipment, and welding machinery.
• Visual acuity sufficient for precision fabrication and inspection work
