Job summary

Curtis Service Co. is seeking an Excavator Operator to safely and efficiently operate excavators or backhoes on utility construction and pipeline projects across the Texas Panhandle region.

You will trench, grade, and backfill, dig to specified lines and grades, and work near underground utilities while following OSHA Subpart P and company safety plans. Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of verifiable experience operating an excavator on construction projects.
• Demonstrated ability to dig to grade, read a grade rod, and work with a grade checker or laser.
• Working knowledge of excavation safety, trench shoring, and soil classification.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators of various sizes for trenching, excavation, pipe bedding, backfill, and grading operations on utility and pipeline projects.
• Dig to specified line and grade per project plans, ensuring precise slope and elevation control for gravity-fed systems (water, wastewater, storm drain).
• Work safely around underground utilities, adhering to excavation safety protocols, shoring/sloping requirements, and OSHA Subpart P standards.
• Perform daily pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections; document findings on Daily Equipment Inspection Reports and report deficiencies to the supervisor.
• Maintain the machine in clean, functional condition — perform basic greasing, fluid checks, and minor upkeep as needed.
• Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific safety plans at all times.
