Job summary

Yates Construction is seeking an Excavator Operator in Byhalia, MS to perform heavy equipment operation, trenching, and grading tasks. You will conduct pre-operational safety checks, interpret site plans, and maintain equipment while prioritizing safety and efficiency on varied construction projects.

The role requires 2+ years of experience, a valid CDL (A or B), and a willingness to work outdoors in extreme temperatures. Compliance with safety, insurance, and site regulations is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen with a “Negative” result.
• Eligible to work in the United States.
• 2 years of experience preferred.
• License: Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Driving record: Clean driving record required to meet insurance standards.
• Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
• Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Site preparation: Clear land, excavate, and grade soil to blueprints and specifications.
• Operate excavator to dig trenches, foundations, and holes, and load debris into trucks.
• Perform daily safety inspections, check fluid levels, grease joints, and clean tracks.
• Use attachments such as hammers, breakers, and grapples as required.
• Work around utilities and assist in installing pipes and water lines.
• Coordinate with ground personnel and project managers to ensure accurate digging and safety.
