Job summary

Johnson Controls in Salem, VA is seeking an Assembly Technician to produce magnetic bearing assemblies and subassemblies for high‑speed motors and drive panels. This onsite role requires reading schematics and blueprints, using hand tools, and performing electrical tests on components.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and 1+ year assembly experience in a light industrial setting, with the ability to work on feet for extended periods and lift with approved equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year assembly experience in a light industrial setting preferred.
• Ability to read, understand and follow assembly instructions, blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Proficient with hand tools and equipment like screwdrivers, pliers, crimps and soldering where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe working environment and uphold safety standards.
• Collaborate with team to assemble magnetic bearing subassemblies and drive panels.
• Use hand tools and equipment to heat, press and balance parts.
• Strip, crimp, solder, and terminate wires per standards.
• Perform electrical testing on components and assemblies.
