Job summary

Genuine Parts Company is seeking a detail-oriented Service Technician to assemble, wire, and test electrical control panels per engineering drawings and schematics. The role demands strong electrical knowledge, precision, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include setting up and wiring panels, testing functions, and ensuring compliance with UL 508A/NEC, while maintaining a clean work area and timely reporting of issues or improvements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in electrical systems is a plus.
• Proven experience as a control panel builder, electrician, or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of electrical components, wiring practices, and control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and drawings.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
• Familiarity with UL 508A, NEC, and related codes is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and wire electrical control panels, enclosures, and sub-panels per blueprints and diagrams.
• Install and connect relays, circuit breakers, switches, transformers, PLCs, and other devices.
• Perform point-to-point wiring, cable routing, and wire termination with precision.
• Test and troubleshoot panels to ensure functionality and quality compliance.
• Follow electrical schematics, layouts, and technical instructions.
• Ensure work complies with company standards, safety protocols, and codes.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to resolve issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and proper tool maintenance.
• Document issues or improvements in the assembly process.
• Meet project deadlines and production schedules with high-quality workmanship.
