Job summary

Alamo Structural Steel, LLC seeks an Assistant Quality Control Inspector to ensure fabricated steel products meet project specifications, codes, and company quality standards. You will collaborate with shop personnel, welders, fitters, and project managers to verify quality throughout fabrication and before shipment.

Responsibilities include in-process and final inspections, drawing verification, documentation, NCRs, and audits.

Qualifications

• 5 years in structural steel fabrication, welding, or quality control.
• Able to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes, including welding, cutting, drilling.
• Knowledge of AWS welding symbols and inspection requirements.
• Proficient with tape measures, levels, squares, and inspection tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-process and final inspections of fabricated structural and miscellaneous steel components.
• Verify dimensions, hole locations, fit-up, weld quality, camber, and assembly accuracy against final fabrication drawings.
• Ensure materials match fabrication drawings, material test reports (MTRs), and project specifications.
• Inspect incoming materials for damage, correct grade, and compliance with purchase orders.
• Conduct visual weld inspections in accordance with applicable AWS standards.
• Verify proper weld sizes, lengths, locations, and welding procedures are being followed.
• Ensure fabricated assemblies meet customer and contract requirements before shipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
