Job summary

Atlas Copco US in Auburn Hills is seeking an Applications Specialist to develop and validate precision fluid dispensing processes across lab and production environments, focusing on micro dispensing for adhesives, thermal materials, sealants, and UV fluids used in electronics and automotive manufacturing.

You will integrate hands-on mechanical, electrical, and automation expertise with robotics, motion control, and data reporting to support development, testing, and customer demonstrations,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience with precision dispensing, fluid handling, robotics, or automation is preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Execute precision dispensing trials in laboratory, customer-facing, and production-style environments.
• Set up, operate, program, and troubleshoot micro dispense equipment, pumps, valves, controllers, and robotic systems.
• Develop and optimize dispensing processes for adhesives, thermal materials, underfills, coatings, sealants, and UV materials.
• Evaluate dispensing performance including dot size, bead geometry, placement accuracy, and process capability.
• Troubleshoot dispense issues related to material behavior, parameters, and equipment performance.
• Support customer sample prep, proofs-of-concept testing, and feasibility studies.
• Capture observations, parameters, results, and recommendations with detailed reporting.
• Support equipment installations, commissioning, validation, and process debugging.
• Provide technical recommendations on equipment selection and process improvements.
• Translate trial results into practical solutions to improve quality and throughput.
• Conduct customer demonstrations and explain capabilities and results.
• Assist with customer training, workshops, and trade shows.
• Collaborate with engineering to evaluate new dispensing technologies.
• Maintain lab equipment, fixtures, and testing resources.
• Stay current on emerging dispensing technologies and industry best practices.
