Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated is seeking qualified machinists to set up and operate conventional machine shop equipment, including CNC mills and lathes, to produce and repair dies and fixtures. The role emphasizes precision tolerances, tooling maintenance, and independent setup execution.

Emphasis is on hands-on fabrication, die changes, process troubleshooting, and training others in the department. A technical associate degree is preferred and practical experience is evaluated for qualification.

Qualifications

Associates degree from an appropriate technical school preferred. Equivalent experience and other credentials will be evaluated for qualification.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate all conventional machines in the Machine Shop, including CNC conversational control mills and lathes.
Repair, revise, duplicate and fabricate components for dies, fixtures, gauges, and tools through verbal instruction, sketches, or drawings.
Work to tolerances of +/- .0005.
Maintain tooling such as perforating, blanking, trim and progressive dies.
Change components in dies and in the press.
Independently make own set-ups for all assignments.
Trouble shoot dies that do not meet drawing specifications and advise management on repair time; relocate components for die sets.
Will train others in the department to help increase knowledge and ability.
Set-up, operate and maintain heat treat equipment (ovens, hardness tester, dew pointer).
May perform other duties including operating material handling equipment, forklift, crane; furnish own tools.
