Job summary

Phillips Contracting Co. in Mississippi is seeking a Concrete Finisher to place, finish, and repair concrete on heavy civil projects, with emphasis on curbs, sidewalks, and slabs. You will work with forms, rebar, and finishing equipment to meet project specs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of concrete finishing experience.
• Ability to read grade stakes and basic plans.
• Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs and working in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Set forms to grade specs for curbs, sidewalks, slabs, drainage structures and other concrete work.
• Place and spread concrete using hand tools (shovels, rakes) and power tools (vibrators, screeds).
• Finish concrete using floats, trowels, edgers, jointers, and finishing machines.
• Apply curing compounds and ensure proper curing and protection of finished surfaces.
• Install reinforcement (rebar, mesh) according to plans and specifications.
• Check grades, slopes, and depth using levels, lasers, or measuring tools.
• Repair and patch existing concrete as needed.
• Operate concrete finishing equipment safely (walk-behind trowels, riding trowels, screeds).
• Assist with concrete demolition, forming, and cleanup.
• Follow safety policies and OSHA requirements at all times.
• Communicate with team members, operators, and supervisors to ensure quality and productivity.
• Perform other related duties as needed to support project goals.
