Job summary

Sonic Automotive is seeking a Collision Mechanic to perform mechanical repairs and inspections on collision-damaged vehicles, ensuring safety and adherence to manufacturer specs. The role requires strong mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced shop environment.

The candidate should have 2+ years of automotive technician experience, proficiency with diagnostic tools, and ASE/I-CAR certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional automotive technician experience in collision/body shop
• Strong knowledge of automotive mechanical and electrical systems
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues accurately and efficiently
• Experience using automotive diagnostic tools and equipment
• ASE or I-CAR certifications are preferred

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, suspension, steering, brake, and drivetrain components on collision-damaged vehicles.
• Inspect vehicles for hidden mechanical damage and identify additional repairs needed.
• Remove, replace, and reinstall mechanical components as required for collision repairs.
• Perform diagnostic testing using scan tools and other automotive equipment.
• Follow manufacturer repair procedures and dealership quality and safety standards.
• Document completed repairs and communicate additional repair needs to the Body Shop Manager or appropriate team members.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while completing repairs efficiently and accurately.
