Job summary

Chapter 2, Inc. is seeking a Set-Up Technician to leverage broad machining knowledge and CNC procedures to perform complex setup operations. You will interpret programs for mills and lathes, adjust tooling and offsets, and ensure parts meet exact specifications in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility.

The role may involve training other operators and supporting multiple units simultaneously. Ideal candidates have prior level 1-3 machine operator experience in manufacturing, excellent

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of machining techniques and familiarity with CNC machine tool operating procedures.
• Performs advanced setup operations, adjusts and verifies programming, and operates CNC machines for complex machining tasks.
• May set up machines for and instruct other operators.
• Checks parts for conformance to specifications.
• Operators may run more than one unit simultaneously.
• Experience as a level 1-3 Machine Operator in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and understand CNC programs (mills and lathes), enter data, set tool registers, offsets, compensation and switches, and verify part programs.
• Prepare the first piece inspection and coordinate with quality for production approval.
• Make adjustments to machinery to maintain accuracy, safety and efficiency within quality parameters.
• Verify tool changes and re-sharpening as needed.
• Follow drawings, engineering prints, and instructions precisely.
• Document actions and communicate issues across shifts.
• Assist with machine operator duties when required.
