Job summary

Backer Hotwatt, Inc. is seeking a CNC Operator in Danvers, MA to set up, operate and monitor CNC machines, ensuring parts meet specs.

You will perform first-piece and in-process inspections, read blueprints, and support maintenance and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, is proficient with calipers and micrometers, and can read engineering drawings and process documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience operating CNC machining equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and gauges.
• Understanding of machining practices, tools, feeds, speeds, and tolerances.
• Basic knowledge of CNC machine controls and setup procedures.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot minor machining issues.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines according to drawings, work instructions, and production requirements.
• Load raw materials and secure workpieces using fixtures and tooling.
• Select and install cutting tools, offsets, and machine settings as required.
• Monitor operations to ensure tolerances and specifications are met.
• Perform inspections using precision measuring instruments.
• Read blueprints and process documentation.
• Make minor machine adjustments and tool offset changes.
• Report malfunctions or quality concerns to supervisors or maintenance.
• Maintain production records and downtime documentation.
• Follow safety policies and wear PPE.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area following 6S principles.
