Job summary

BARNES in East Granby, CT, is hiring for a 1st shift quality inspector. Work hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, operating CMMs to inspect first-piece run parts, gauges, tools and fixtures.

You will read customer specs, blueprints and operation sheets, and maintain accurate records with precision measurement tools. The role requires at least 3 years of CMM experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, High School diploma, and willingness to overtime.

Qualifications

• 3+ years CMM experience in a manufacturing setting.
• PC-DMIS experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and specs.
• Overtime may be required; strong math and communication.
• Maintain inspection files and use precision measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct first piece inspections as required.
• Plan and perform inspections to check dimensions and relationships on complex parts, gauges, tools and fixtures.
• Verify correct operation sheets meet blueprint requirements.
• Utilize CMMs, optical comparators, sine plates, indicators, micrometers, V-Blocks, verniers, parallels, height stands and other tools.
• Return part to operator and ensure proper gauging and equipment.
• Complete paperwork and documentation of dimensions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
