Job summary

General Matter is seeking a skilled Composite Manufacturing Technician with hands-on experience in carbon fiber composite fabrication. You will cut, handle, and operate precision winding equipment to produce high-precision components per engineering specs.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in composite manufacturing, can read drawings, and work with calipers/micrometers. This role requires attention to detail, process discipline, and safe handling of materials.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in composite manufacturing with precision winding or related layup.
• Experience with carbon fiber materials and proper handling/storage.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Familiarity with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers).
• Understanding of resin systems and cure cycles when applicable.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate automated composite equipment per specs.
• Cut, measure, and prepare carbon fiber materials to minimize waste.
• Load/align mandrels; manage resin bath and cure cycles.
• Perform in-process inspections for fiber placement and tolerances.
• Maintain material traceability and production records.
• Report deviations and equipment issues to engineering/supervision.
• Follow safety protocols for composite materials and PPE.
• Support continuous improvement and collaboration with engineering/quality teams.
